Greetings Greyhound Students, Parents, Staff, and Guests,

Thank you for taking the time and showing an interest in visiting our school website, especially the Principal’s Page. It is my goal to make this a useful site for you, a resource where you may find important information about the school, its events, and its programs. I hope that this page will also increase communication between the school and community.

Please allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I look forward to serving as the Principal of Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Prior to this, I served as the Secondary Principal of the Huntingdon Area School District for both the high school and the middle school. There were approximately 1100 students and 90 teachers in the two buildings. My career in education began in the Chambersburg Area Senior High School where I taught chemistry for six years, served as Dean of Students for two years, Assistant Principal for five years, and Academic Principal for one year.

I live in Shippensburg with my husband, Ron. My daughter is in the fifth grade at Shippensburg Intermediate School, while my son is in third grade at James Burd Elementary School. We love the Shippensburg community and everything it offers its families. We enjoy spending time outside playing sports, hiking, running, biking, and fishing or boating at Raystown Lake.

As I consider the education of our secondary students in this 21st century, I am excited. I feel that education is on the verge of becoming truly personalized for every student, and technology is the tool that can make that happen. Technology has personalized the choices made by many of us even as we order our sandwiches, made just the way we want in MTO subs, or have purchases recommended to us by Amazon based on prior purchases we have made from them. Technology has also allowed educators to better meet the needs of each and every learner in our schools every single day. The High School will be working towards using such technology in this way when we bring Google Chromebooks into our classrooms one-on-one for the 2018-2019 school year. Students, with this type of technology access, will be more efficient learners as they gain a deeper understanding of concepts presented to them.

I look forward to a wonderful 2017-2018 school year, and I am excited about meeting the school staff and students upon their return to SASHS!

Please consider coming to the Open House on August 17th to meet the teachers, staff, and the new principal.
