On November 8, 2019, after the 14th Annual Veterans Day Program, Virginia “Ginny” Lopez was presented with the Jefferson Award from WHP Channel 21 News for her outstanding community service.

The Jefferson Awards Foundation was created in 1972 by the American Institute for Public Service.  The awards are given both nationally and locally.  Local winners are ordinary people who do extraordinary things without expectation of recognition and Virginia Lopez is truly one of those people.
