Definitions of Virtual Learning
Asynchronous Learning: Learning materials are posted online, and learners work through them in their own time, communication with each other and the teacher via discussion boards or forums, or even by email.
Synchronous Learning: Learning that is set to occur at the same time, but students do not need to be in the same location. An example would be Zoom lessons where teachers and students directly interact with each other at a specific time.
CAOLA: Capital Area Online Learning Association (CAOLA) is a collaborative effort between CAIU (Capital Area Intermediate Unit) member school districts and Intermediate Units to provide standards-aligned asynchronous learning Opportunities to Students
