Good Afternoon Shippensburg Area Senior High School Families,
The Shippensburg Area Senior High School has exceeded 5% of students/staff testing positive for COVID-19 within a 14-day window. With guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, students in the Shippensburg Area Senior High School will pivot to virtual learning beginning January 12th, 2021 and lasting through January 18th, 2021. During this time, there are no after school activities. The music concert scheduled for January 12th will be postponed and rescheduled at a later date. There will be no school for students on January 14th or January 17th as pre-determined by the 2021-2022 District Calendar as non-instructional days.
For each of the three days of virtual learning (January 12th,January 13th, and January 18th), students will follow their regular daily schedule with participation in synchronous learning. Students should regularly check their District Google email as well as their teachers’ Google Classroom or Schoology Page for links to their synchronous lessons and asynchronous activities to be completed each day. Students will have until 11:59 pm to complete their assignments to be counted as being “present” in class for the day.
The start of the second semester is still scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 18th with virtual learning. Students must check their District Google email for course codes to join their new courses Google Classrooms or Schoology Pages. These course codes will be sent to students so they can access their new courses and the synchronous learning sessions on Tuesday, January 18th.
In-Person learning is expected to resume on January 19th, 2022. The Algebra Keystone Module II scheduled for January 12th will now be taken January 19th when students return to in-person learning. Students will also receive direction next week on returning their semester 1 course materials.
Students attending the Franklin County Career and Technical Center for the first semester, will be provided their regular transportation to and from the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and then and from to the Career Center as normal on January 12th and January 13th for their last days of the semester. Students attending Franklin County Career and Technical Center for the second semester will be provided their regular transportation to and from Shippensburg Area Senior High School and then to and from the Career Center on January 18th.
It is our hope that with this brief pause of in-person learning, we can ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community and limit the spread of COVID-19.
