IMPORTANT IMMUNIZATION NOTICE FOR 2023/24 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Under the rules and guidelines of the Pennsylvania Departments of Health and Education, the Shippensburg Area School District is required to verify all student immunizations are current prior to school attendance.
Your child will need to have the following prior to the start of school or will risk exclusion on 8-31-23 if the requirements are not met.
Kindergarten:
• 4 doses of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis* (1 dose on or after the 4th birthday)
• 4 doses of polio (4th dose on or after 4th birthday and at least 6 months after previous dose given)**
• 2 doses of measles, mumps, rubella***
• 3 doses of hepatitis B
• 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity
7th Grade:
• 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) on the first day of 7th grade.
• 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) on the first day of 7th grade.
12th Grade:
• 2nd dose of MCV on the first day of 12th grade. If one dose was given at 16 years of age or older, that shall count as the twelfth grade dose.
We highly encourage you contact your child’s primary health provider as soon as possible to schedule a vaccination appointment prior to the start of the 2023-2024 school year. This will ensure your child may attend school and avoid the potential delay or interruption of their education.
