SASD Student Services Department

Welcome to the Student Services Department!

At Shippensburg Area School District, we are honored to work with you and your children. Our staff demonstrates an immense amount of pride in the student services and special education services that we provide.  You may have questions regarding special education and supports your child is eligible to receive.  Our team looks forward to guiding you through this process.

Special Education is planned instruction specifically designed to address the educational and related developmental needs of children with disabilities.   A plan is designed through a team approach, in which an IEP is developed to enable the student to make progress by addressing their individual needs. Parents are critical members of the IEP process.

At Shippensburg Area School District, the Student Services Office oversees Chapter 14 programs (IEP’s), Chapter 15 programs (504 plans), and Chapter 16 (GIEP’s).  In addition, the department facilitates district Social Work Services, district school counselors, district nurses, district Board Certified Behavioral Analyst consultation, as well as supports and services for students who are homeless or in foster care.    If you have any questions pertaining to the topics above, please do not hesitate to contact our department. We will be happy to assist you, as it is our goal to partner with families.
